Hidden chemist: Dolph Lundgren

Hidden chemist: Dolph LundgrenWho is he?

Born Hans Lundgren on November 3, 1957, Dolph is a 6' 5" tall Swedish actor.

Why is he famous?

Dolph Lundgren is one of the original muscle-bound action film stars. In 1985, Lundgren made his feature-film debut in the James Bond movie 'A View to a Kill'. Then he beat out 5,000 other hopefuls to land the breakthrough role of Ivan Drago, Sylvester Stallone's opponent in 'Rocky IV' (1985).

His choice of film career well and truly hides his outstanding intellectual background. He attended the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, later received a master's degree in chemical engineering from the University of Sydney, and was eventually awarded a scholarship to MIT, but decided to pursue a career in acting.

He has occasionally played roles in sci-fi and fantasy pictures such as 'Masters of the Universe' and 'Johnny Mnemonic' (starring alongside Keanu Reeves). He also starred in the original 1989 'The Punisher' movie as Frank Castle, the Punisher, and most recently appeared alongside Sylvester Stallone, Bruce Willis and Arnold Schwarzenegger in 'The Expendables'.
